This IFRS training program is designed for finance professionals and all stakeholders involved in IFRS reporting. It is equally suited for professionals who are new to IFRS or those looking for a clear and comprehensive refresher. If you want to deepen your understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards and their reporting requirements, this program will guide you step by step toward that goal.

The program goes beyond theoretical concepts as each training module is developed and instructed by IFRS experts with solid and pragmatic on the job experience. All modules share an interactive approach where theory is combined with practical and pragmatic examples. All training sessions consist of small groups allowing optimal interaction.

You will be thoroughly introduced to the different IFRS/IAS topics. Based on an executive summary of all IFRS/IAS frameworks we will guide you through the scope, objectives and the main principles, and illustrate with practical examples.

The training consists of 4 modules, each covering a specific area.

Module 1: The IFRS Framework & Financial Presentation

Focus: Establishing the foundation of IFRS philosophy and how it shapes the
primary statements of a financial institution.

    • Introduction: Philosophy, Principles, and Objectives of IFRS.
    • Overview of the Standards: IAS, IFRS, IFRS S and IFRIC.
    • IAS 1/IFRS 18: Presentation of Financial Statements, including the upcoming changes to defined subtotals and management performance measures.
    • IFRS 10/11/12 IAS 28: Consolidated Financial Statements.
    • IAS 8: Accounting Policies, Changes in Accounting Estimates and Errors.
    • IFRS 13: Fair Value definition and valuation techniques.
    • IAS 36: Impairment of Assets

    Module 2: Financial Instruments Part 1 – Foundations & Classification

    Focus: Defining what is on the balance sheet and how it must be categorized.

    • IFRS 9 Phsophy: From IAS 39 to forward-looking standards.
    • IAS 32 Definitions: Criteria and classification for financial assets, liabilities,
      and equity.
    • IFRS 9 Business Model: Categorizing based on the objective to collect cash,
      sell assets, or both.
    • IFRS 9 SPPI Test: Verifying if cash flows are "solely payments of principal
      and interest".

    Module 3: Financial Instruments Part 2 – Measurement, Impairment & Hedging

    Focus: The technical "how-to" regarding entries, valuation, and risk.

    • Initial & Subsequent Measurement: Applying fair value and amortized cost
      rules.
    • Effective Interest Method: Calculating interest income via effective rates.
    • Impairment & the ECL Model: Implementing the three-stage credit loss
      framework.
    • Hedge Accounting: Managing risk by matching accounting treatments.

    Module 4: Operational Assets & Obligations

    Focus: Technical application and judgment for operational standards.

    • The Asset Cycle
      • IFRS 16: Leases
      • IAS 36: Impairment losses
    • The Liability Cycle: 
      • IAS 19: Employee Benefits
      • IFRS 2: Share based payments
      • IAS 37: Provisions
      • IFRS 15: Revenue & IAS 12: Income Tax
    • IAS 7: Statement of Cash Flows
    • IAS 10: Events after the Reporting Period
    • Main upcoming changes:
      • IFRS 18
      • ISSB: Sustainability Reporting

    Practical information

    This training consists of four half‑day sessions, each from 9:00 to 13:00:

    Day 1 - 04 September 2026 - Module 1

    Day 2 - 11 September 2026 - Module 2

    Day 3 - 18 September 2026 - Module 3

    Day 4 - 25 September 2026 - Module 4

      • Prior knowledge in the field of IFRS is an advantage, but not required.
