When people join TriFinance, they often expect a steep learning curve. What they sometimes don’t expect is how quickly they will be trusted with responsibility, how deeply they will grow, and how much impact they can have, even in complex environments. Xavier’s trajectory over the past year illustrates this perfectly.
Studies, Young Hub, and early development
Xavier joined TriFinance eight years ago, right after completing a Master in Business Engineering with a major in Corporate Finance. He entered the organization through the Young Hub, our development program designed for starters who are beginning their career.
From the beginning, he benefited from:
- TriFinance Academies, offering structured learning in controlling, bookkeeping, reporting, and soft skills
- Mentoring and coaching, helping him navigate assignments and shape his growth path
- Exposure to diverse missions, allowing him to build expertise in closing, controlling, regulatory reporting, and FP&A
- External, fully supported by TriFinance
This combination of learning, hands‑on experience, and entrepreneurial freedom shaped a consultant who is both technically strong and adaptable, exactly the kind of profile that thrives in complex environments.
A mission that became a turning point
In April 2024, Xavier was assigned to support the Finance function of a mid‑sized European bank. The initial scope was clear: step in as a Financial and Business Controller for a temporary replacement.
But shortly after his arrival, the bank launched a major internal reorganization. Controlling activities were moved to the Group level, senior team members were leaving, and documentation for key processes was limited. The Belgian Finance team suddenly found itself without clear leadership.
In this context, Xavier stepped into the role of acting Finance Manager, taking responsibility for:
- All internal and external reporting
- Bookkeeping operations and monthly closing
- Tax activities
- Coordination of ad‑hoc and regulatory requests
- Acting as the point of contact for Group Finance, Controlling, Tax, and external stakeholders
What was meant to be a one‑year mission evolved into a much broader leadership role, and the assignment was extended by six months.
Delivering stability in times of change
Despite a limited handover and a team composed largely of young co-workers, Xavier ensured continuity of all key deliverables:
- Monthly closing and management reporting
- Schema A
- Quarterly group reporting and key control testing
- Yearly regulatory surveys and tax‑related deliverables
- Suspense account reconciliations
- Creation of a new Schema A process and procedure
- A structured handover to the new Head of Finance and Business Controller
His ability to quickly absorb new topics, reorganize priorities, and guide the team through uncertainty was essential to maintaining operational stability.
A leadership journey supported by TriFinance
This mission was not only a technical challenge, it was a moment of personal growth.
Xavier strengthened key soft skills:
- People management in a context of uncertainty
- Stakeholder management across multiple countries.
- Building trust with both the team and senior management
- Listening, prioritizing, and structuring work under pressure
- Confidence in decision‑making, even with limited information
What helped him succeed was the backbone he built at TriFinance: diverse missions, continuous learning, and the entrepreneurial mindset encouraged from day one. He was able to rely on the broad experience he had accumulated across Finance roles, and on the support network available within TriFinance.
A clearer ambition for the future
This assignment confirmed Xavier’s long‑term ambition: to grow into a Finance leadership role and eventually acquire the skills of a CFO. He discovered a strong appetite for people management and a natural ability to bring structure in complex environments.
His mission was extended because he could immediately fill the gaps, a strength shared by many TriFinance consultants. Our academies, mentoring, and growth paths prepare them to face the unexpected, take ownership, and deliver impact from day one.
Xavier’s story is one of many. It reflects what TriFinance stands for:
a place where people grow fast, learn broadly, and build the confidence to take on roles they never imagined so early in their career.
