  • project management skills

As an experienced business analyst, Bruno was engaged by customer Olympus Mobility to help integrate new sustainable mobility services for the Olympus Mobility app as well as for the KBC banking app. A nice challenge where projects with high visibility had to be delivered within strict deadlines.

Olympus Mobility, provider of digital solutions for sustainable mobility

Olympus Mobility is a provider of digital solutions for sustainable mobility. Via the Olympus mobile app, employers can offer their employees an easy way to buy digital transport products such as public transport tickets, day passes for shared bikes, Cambio car reservations …). For the employer, this also means less administration: all employee mobility expenses are bundled into one monthly invoice.

Why Tri-ICT

Due to the increasing number of projects, Olympus Mobility was looking for an experienced functional analyst. Tri-ICT always aims to equip its customers with highly skilled IT professionals and focuses on the development opportunities of its people. By following this philosophy, Tri-ICT ensures that only motivated candidates are presented to the customer.

Challenging environment

Olympus Mobility is a scaleup that has close partnerships with larger companies such as KBC, VAB and Taxistop. By consequence, new mobility projects are continuously in the pipeline. It is a challenging environment where the requirements of the different stakeholders have to be weighed against each other and where strict deadlines are to be met.

The approach

Especially for the KBC projects, communication was key since these projects have high visibility and several parties are involved: Olympus Mobility, KBC, and the mobility provider (Mobit, cambio, Velo, etc...). Every detail is important and has to be discussed with the different partners. This meant a lot of deep-dive meetings, conference calls, and a continuous presence on chat tools like Microsoft Teams and Slack. Furthermore: analyses, screen flows, and literals were as much as possible shared on a common platform to avoid late surprises as much as possible. Progress was strictly followed up during weekly scrum and defect meetings to make sure we were on track to meet the fixed KBC deadlines.

We are stronger when we listen, and smarter when we share.

Successful integration

Each KBC project takes a lot of work and discipline since every detail has high visibility. Thanks to the smooth cooperation between partners and perseverance when needed, we usually get the work done on time. This was also the case with the 2 projects where Bruno was highly involved as the main Olympus Mobility analyst: the integration of Mobit shared bikes and Cambio shared cars have both gone live in the KBC banking app! As a result, the customer gave him a new nickname: “Mr. Cambio”.

Learnings

Before, Bruno didn’t have much experience with mobile app projects. During his mission, he learned a lot about UI design for android and iPhone apps thanks to the UX’ers at Olympus Mobility and KBC. Even more interesting for him was to learn how the Olympus Mobility functionalities could be fully integrated as an HTML5 plugin inside the KBC banking app.

On top of that, Bruno brought his soft skills to a new level thanks to the intense collaboration with a lot of stakeholders and the supervision of 3 offshore development teams (Russia, Ukraine, Hungary).

Such an experience only makes him more motivated to further his skills as a qualified consultant. He recently started a Prince2 course to enhance his project management skills with the full support of Tri-ICT!
