From Back office to Operational Excellence: Evisi’s journey

2 June 2025

At TriFinance, we like to say that no two missions are alike. Just ask Evisi, a consultant in our Financial Institutions team, who over the past three years has carved a unique path across a variety of major players in the banking sector. Her journey proves that consulting in financial institutions goes far beyond the finance department, and that there’s a lot more to discover in middle and back office operations than meets the eye.

Before joining TriFinance, Evisi spent three years as a Data Analyst. But she was looking for more variety, more learning, and more impact. “I love working for different clients and feeling useful,” she explains. “There’s no routine, and you’re constantly expanding your horizons.” Consulting turned out to be exactly what she was looking for. “I was right to choose consulting,” she says. “I don’t see myself going back in-house anytime soon.”

Learning by doing with the right support

Her first mission came just after the pandemic, in the middle of a large-scale migration project at a digital bank. She joined a TriFinance team already supporting the back office, helping with the transfer of client securities to new counterparties. “I had no prior knowledge of that kind of work,” Evisi recalls. “But TriFinance set me up with a mentor, and I was well-prepared thanks to two solid weeks of onboarding.”

It wasn’t just the technical knowledge that mattered. “Migration projects are never easy,” she says. “You’re dealing with change, and every person experiences it differently. Empathy helped me a lot in understanding people’s reactions and guiding them through.”

From collateral to cultural discovery

Her next mission brought her into the world of collateral management at an asset management company, a niche but critical function within financial institutions. With the activity about to be outsourced, Evisi’s role was to keep business-as-usual running smoothly and ensure a proper handover to the new offshore team. That meant not only learning the processes in depth but also translating them into clear operational guidance for her colleagues abroad.

It was her first time working closely with a team from another culture. “There was some hesitation at first: they were afraid to say they didn’t understand,” she says. “So I focused on building trust. Giving them confidence was key.”

She credits much of her growth to the mentorship she received from experts in both back and middle office domains. “You have to be resourceful,” she adds. “Clients won’t always give you a straight answer. You need to figure things out, and that’s what we’re here for as consultants.”

Becoming an expert by doing

Most recently, Evisi took on two back-to-back roles at another major institution. First in succession management, where she navigated legal processes. Then in treasury operations, dealing once again with collateral, this time in the high-pressure context of a migration involving the national bank and new system implementations.

Across these missions, she gained a broad view of middle and back office functions, from legal processes to SWIFT messaging and financial market operations.

“Collateral management looked completely different at each organization,” she explains. “That’s what makes it so interesting: you keep learning, and you never do the exact same thing twice.”

More than just Ops

Today, Evisi sees herself growing into an expert role in financial markets, back and middle office. “There will always be issues to solve, like a missing amount, a transaction that doesn’t match, or a new regulation to implement. That’s what makes the work exciting. You learn by doing, and sometimes you discover you love things you never expected.”

Her story is a great reminder that Business As Usual isn’t so “usual” after all, and that the financial institutions team at TriFinance offers a front-row seat to a world of complex, evolving, and meaningful work.
