Three years, three insights: how young finance consultants make a difference for clients

15 July 2025

Three years ago, I took my first professional steps as a freshly graduated commercial engineer. Already during my studies, I knew I wanted more than just “a job in finance”. My choice for a job as a finance consultant was intentional: I was looking for an environment where I could keep learning, challenge myself, and create immediate impact for clients. TriFinance gave me that opportunity and the trust to pursue my ambitions.

Today, three years and four projects later, I look back on a journey that has shaped me professionally and proven how, as a young finance consultant, I can truly add value for clients in finance teams.

Three reasons to choose a Young Hub consultant:
  • Quick deployability: Thanks to intensive training and guidance, young professionals deliver added value to finance teams from day one.
  • Fresh insights and a critical mindset: Young consultants identify improvement opportunities and bring new energy to the team.
  • Continuously growing expertise: Ongoing development ensures a broad skill set that benefits clients.

In this blog, I’m sharing three insights showing why engaging young finance consultants like me is a smart move for any CFO or finance manager looking to strengthen their finance team.

1. Training and guidance make all the difference: from fresh graduate to skilled finance consultant

From day one as a junior finance consultant at TriFinance, I knew I could count on the right support to help me with my career start. My first week was a full training week. This Young Hub week was all about learning and discovery. Together with a group of newly graduated consultants, we jumped into the company culture and received hands-on training in Excel, SAP and soft skills such as communication.

Young Hub Program

The Young Hub Program at TriFinance is a traineeship for recent graduates in finance. It offers a combination of mentoring and technical as well as soft skills training, enabling young finance professionals to deliver significant value from their very first project in accounting or controlling, while accelerating their own growth paths.

More about the Young Hub Program

During my first project as a Business Controller at an international manufacturer of interior decoration, I learned how valuable a solid foundation in bookkeeping is in practice. It also demonstrated the strength of the TriFinance consulting model: after discussions with the internal BaseCamp team, we decided that my next assignment would strategically be in an AP bookkeeping role. This allowed me to deepen and broaden my operational finance knowledge, which made me stronger in my role as a controller.

From day one as a young finance consultant at TriFinance, I received tailored training and guidance that helped me translate my academic knowledge into corporate finance practice and thus quickly add value for my clients.

But the guidance doesn’t end with choosing the right projects for both the consultant and the client’s needs. Whenever I encounter technical challenges during a project, I can always rely on the expertise and advice of my mentor, fellow finance consultants, or someone from the internal TriFinance BaseCamp team.

Another example: when Power BI suddenly became crucial for a client, I was immediately able to attend a specific TriFinance training session. This direct translation of learning needs into action is unique in finance consulting and lets you grow faster as a consultant, and with you, the customer.

2. Clients benefit from a fresh perspective and inquisitive mindset

Finance consultants want to keep learning, experience diverse business environments, and take on new roles based on knowledge gained from previous projects. That ambition and eagerness to learn are exactly why many of us choose consulting, and clients notice it right away.

Often, as a finance consultant, you step into environments where immediate support is needed. There’s rarely time for long handover periods or extensive transitions. Precisely because of this, as junior professionals, we quickly learn to adapt, understand processes fast, and work efficiently. Our fresh perspective also allows us to ask critical questions and suggest improvements that might otherwise go unnoticed.

As a young finance consultant, I’m able to adapt quickly, ensure continuity, and bring fresh ideas and improvements to finance teams.

Because we frequently switch projects in finance consulting, we build a broad and practical knowledge base that we can instantly apply in new contexts. For example, insights I gained about closing processes or reporting tools at one client proved highly valuable in my next finance project. In addition, I always document my work thoroughly, creating clear manuals for those who will follow me. In this way, we not only make an impact during our assignments but also help ensure continuity in the client’s finance team afterward.

3. The journey never stops: from recent graduate to experienced finance consultant

After two years in the Young Hub Program, my hunger for growth remains strong. For me, learning never stops: I’m determined to keep expanding my expertise and taking on new challenges in finance consulting.

TriFinance offers two advanced development paths through the Finance & Administration Academy and the Controlling Academy. I chose the Controlling Academy, which includes training on topics such as budgeting, advanced Excel, and reporting. These sessions are far from purely theoretical: the knowledge I gain can be applied directly to my projects. This ensures that my added value as a finance consultant keeps growing, both for myself and for clients.

Conclusion: with a TriFinance Young Hub, you gain fresh talent and lasting impact in your finance team

As a Young Hub at TriFinance, you’re not merely a recent graduate. We are ambitious young finance professionals who bring far more than just a degree. We combine a strong theoretical background with a hunger for knowledge, a critical mindset, and the right support to deliver results quickly. Thanks to intensive guidance at the start of our careers and continuous training throughout our first projects in finance consulting, we quickly evolve from graduates into finance consultants with a fresh perspective, immediately deployable operational skills, and solid insights into processes across different organizations.

A TriFinance Young Hub is far more than ‘just a junior’. We are ambitious young finance consultants dedicated to making a real impact.
